THE NEW "V" VISA
In 2001, a new "V" Non-Immigrant Visa status will be available to spouses and minor children of Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR) who have been waiting for more than three
years for their Immigrant Visa status based upon a Relative Immigration Petition filed before December 21, 2000.
There are reported to be several thousand such spouses and minor children in the United States as well as abroad, especially in countries such as Mexico, India, Pakistan, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, and elsewhere.
The new "V" Visa will allow families to re-unite, and provides for:
- Entry into the United States
- Work Authority in the United States
- Green Card Issuance to the holder of a V Visa.
